Why Daya exists

Between appointments, a place to start.

Is this pain normal at 22 weeks? Has the baby moved enough today? Should I message my doctor now, or wait?

Questions like these come up at home, between visits. Many have simple answers; some need your doctor. Daya exists to help you tell the difference, and to help the right information reach your doctor when it matters.

Made by LifeRight. Focused on women. Daya is made by LifeRight LLC, a health technology company in Egypt, and is LifeRight’s first specialised product, with a separate app and account, built around women’s and maternal health. Your Daya account is used only for Daya.

AI and your doctor

Your doctor stays your doctor.

You, Daya and your doctor each have a clear role.

You

You decide what to record, what to ask and whether to share with your doctor. If Daya tells you to seek urgent care, or you feel something is wrong, seek care without waiting for a reply.

Daya

An AI assistant, available at any hour. Daya:

  • answers in plain Arabic or English, drawing on WHO, NICE, NHS, RCOG and Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population guidance;
  • takes your week of pregnancy, your history and your earlier conversations into account, and asks follow-up questions;
  • explains in general terms what a symptom may be related to, and tells you what to do next, including when to seek urgent care.

Daya cannot examine you, and she does not diagnose or prescribe. AI can be incomplete or wrong, and every answer reminds you that it does not replace your doctor.

Your doctor

If you link your doctor and agree to share, your doctor can see what you record and your conversations with Daya. Your doctor can reply to your messages, set your care plan and review alerts. Diagnosis and prescribing stay with your doctor.

Your doctor is not available at every hour, and Daya does not set or guarantee a reply time. You can see whether your doctor is available or away.

How alerts work today

When Daya recognises a possible warning sign, she tells you what to do straight away, whether or not your doctor has replied. If your doctor is linked, an alert with a short summary goes to your doctor’s Daya app, and you can see whether your doctor has been notified. An alert does not guarantee that your doctor sees it or responds in time. Text-message and phone-call alerts to doctors are being added.

If your doctor is unavailable

Daya does not connect you with another clinician. If you need care, contact your clinic, go to the nearest emergency department or call emergency services.

Medical content

Who reviews the content.

Medical content in the app is reviewed by a consultant obstetrician-gynaecologist and based on international and Egyptian health guidance.

Which guidance is Daya’s content based on?

Guidance from WHO, NICE, the NHS, the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population.

Who decides when Daya gives urgent-care instructions?

A consultant sets the rules that decide this. They are documented and versioned, and conversations with Daya are logged.

Privacy and consent

Your information, your consent.

You give two separate permissions: one for Daya to use your information, and one to share it with your doctor.

  • Doctors see your information only if you link them and agree to share. A linked doctor can see everything you record, including entries from before you linked, your reports and your conversations with Daya.
  • You can stop sharing or unlink your doctor at any time.
  • Withdrawing permission for Daya to use your information closes your account. You can delete your account and data in the app.
  • LifeRight LLC is responsible for your information.

What Daya is not

Support, alongside your doctor.

Daya is not an emergency service, and she does not monitor you continuously. She does not diagnose or prescribe, and she may not recognise every problem.

If you or your baby may be in danger, seek urgent care or contact local emergency services now.

In Egypt, call 123 for an ambulance. Daya and this website do not provide emergency help.

Egypt’s ambulance number, 123, as listed by the National Telecom Regulatory Authority.
